FlexWATCH® by Seyeon Tech: Automatic ISP Profile Switching, dynamically adjusting camera behavior to real-time conditions
2025.10.02 16:06

What it is in a Nutshell

Best-in-class image quality in varying lighting conditions due to Flexwatch® ’s Automatic ISP Profile Switching Solution. It reacts to challenging lighting issues through a smart, automatic ISP switching system that dynamically adjusts camera behavior to match real-time conditions:

Automatic switching between independent ISP profiles configured for Day (Default) mode, Night mode, DI mode, and Motion mode

Common Issues: Have you faced these challenges in camera image capture?

Capturing images across diverse conditions is often affected by environmental factors, making the creation of optimal, high-quality video difficult.

  • Lighting variations: day vs. night, sunrise/sunset (day/night transition), indoor vs. outdoor, ambient light

  • Sudden changes: entering tunnels, lights switching on/off, a thunderstorm with dark cloud cover, or vehicle headlamps.

  • Complex environments: beach, forest, urban reflections, or backlighting.

  • Small objects become larger as they approach the camera: e.g. a car on a freeway

Most IP camera manufacturers change their ISP (Image Signal Processing) profiles based on a fixed day-time and night-time schedule, determined by the location of the camera or manual input. Even if the environmental conditions change, see examples above, the camera does not switch the ISP profile, leading to poor image optimization.

Solution: What exactly is different with Flexwatch® ’s IP camera modules and how does it work?

Flexwatch® 's the Automatic ISP Profile Switching Solution:

As mentioned before, the solution has day-time and night time modes, but addresses above challenges by applying a smart, automatic ISP switching system that dynamically adjusts camera behavior to match real-time conditions

Each mode operates independently with its own configurable ISP settings (shutter speed, white balance, HDR, etc.), ensuring optimized image quality in all scenarios by managing white balance, shutter speed, and day-night transition.

Components of Automatic Profile Switching by Mode:

      Day Mode:

This is the default ISP profile. If there is no “Change Mode to” selection, this ISP profile will always be applied. Separate ISP profiles optimized for daylight clarity and night-time noise reduction.

  • Night Mode

The Night ISP profile is applied when the conditions change from day to night mode

  • DI (Digital Input) Mode:

Profiles switch based on external triggers (e.g., motion sensors, alarms, or time schedules).

It supports separate configuration of various ISP parameters - such as exposure, white balance, color tuning, gamma, and HDR - by day of the week and time of day, independently from the Day mode settings. Depending on the input content of DI, it is subdivided into time zone mode/scene adaptive mode/external event mode, etc.

    • Time- and Event-Based Adaptation – triggered by Digital Input (DI)

      • Time-Based Switching: Use scheduled ISP profiles via DI triggers for different times/days.

      • External Event Triggering: Automatically switches ISP profiles when external sensors (e.g., fog detectors or IR sensors) detect environmental changes.

    • Scene Detection Mode: ISP profile applied when a signal is detected on the camera's Digital Input

      • Scene Adaptive Switching: Detects large object appearances via AI; applies custom ISP profiles to maintain exposure and color accuracy.

  • Motion Mode:

Changes ISP profiles when movement is detected within a defined area of the screen. It should only be engaged when motion is infrequent as it is very disruptive in case of frequent motions in the defined area.

Flexwatch® ’s Automatic ISP profile switching in conjunction with its Multi-Shutter Streaming combines the solutions’ benefits

Flexwatch®’s automatic ISP profile switching, when combined with multi-shutter streaming, delivers:

  • Consistently optimized video output

  • Excellent license plate and object recognition

  • Adaptability to real-world dynamic conditions

  • Reduced need for manual reconfiguration or maintenance

What is Multi-Shutter Streaming again?

  • Two simultaneous streams at different shutter speeds from one camera

  • Applies ANPR/LPR to both streans and uses the result with higher confidence

  • Effectively handles lighting extremes like reflections, backlight, and shadow

  • Is supported on high-performance models up to 4MP @ 60fps.
